Book Review

"I give the book Daniel Handler the Real Lemony Snicket" with author Hayley Mitchell Haugen, copyright date and publication C 2005 Thomsan Gale, a part of the Thomson Corporation three and a half stars because it had a great layout and a good biography, but it did not have lots of information on the person. The thing that I liked about it was it's interesting facts. It also told important info about Daniel Handler. There is a higher chance that I will read another book from this author than I won't because it is easy to read through and has important facts included in it.

Events That Changed My life

My Dad was in the Holocaust which caused me to write Unfortunate Events in all my books. This is my inspiration. This event led to another event that shaped my life. The next event that shaped my life was thinking all adults were bad people. This is what made my books popular by encouraging me to make Count Olaf, an evil character in my book that is an adult. The Holocaust and adult disliking also led me to like books with unhappy endings. Lots of other sad events have shaped my life, but they are just unbearable to tell to others.

How I am an Interesting Person

There are many ways I am interesting, but today I am only going to name 5. First of all, my father was in the Holocaust. This is not really a thing to be proud about because it is so depressing. He luckily escaped to America though. I also have many friends like movie directors or editors that helped me become rich in life. I got a large amount of money because of my friends Susan Rich and Walter Parks.

I made a movie out of my very popular books. Also, even though I sometimes think kind of negatively, I enjoy performing and acting out for my readers. One more thing is that I am special for is making words in my books boring for young readers not so boring at all. For example for fate I say that it is like an unpopular restaurant with strange waiters that bring you things that you don't ask for and don't like.

My Effects on the World

I effected the world by making some of the first children's books with very unhappy endings.( "A Series of Unfortunate Events".) I also encouraged children to not always see adults as good people. This may sound like a bad lesson, but I have proof that it is not that bad. The Safe Side also teaches children this lesson like my books do. See, not that bad. I also set a new trend for children's books by writing "A Series of Unfortunate Events". That trend is children's books with unhappy endings.

Words That Describe Me AKA Adjectives

Let's see words that describe me.......oh here we are! Well I am usually known as stubborn. Therefor I do not give up easily in getting my ways. For example, I was rejected by 35 editors until I found one that accepted me! Another word to describe me is paranoid. An example of that paranoia is being afraid of lots of adults during my childhood. I always thought they were after me.
I was also shy.
I did not like my name to end up on mailing lists. I mean seriously I don't think many people want to talk to their fans and send them back mail. The fourth word to describe me is musical. I play piano and accordion, and I even sometimes play accordion for my fans while singing. And most importantly, I am creative. Who do you think could create "A Series of Unfortunate Events", and 13 books in that series? Who do you think could make another type of children's book? The answer to all both of those questions is me, Daniel Handler because I am so creative.

My Background Information

To start up, my life as a child was rather fine. I was born in February 28, 1970 in San Fransisco. Even though I noticed that lots of adults were scary to me, I did fine in school being voted class clown and friendliest for the school yearbook. After I completed school, I married Lisa Brown.
After that, my editor friend Susan Rich encouraged me to write children's books that actually came to be more popular than the adult books I was writing( Watch Your Mouth, and The Basic Eight). So far A Series of Unfortunate Events Series has made me a millionaire. Even though I have been having a good life, I regret my father having to be in the holocaust as a Jew. Just thinking about it makes me uncomfortable.
